The Spacebit Engineering Challenge enables engineers around the world to contribute to the development of "Asagumo 2.0", a four-legged walking rover that is set to fly to the Moon with the NASA Commercial Lunar Payload Services (CLPS) program in 2021 and 2022.

Spacebit is developing proprietary wheeled rover technology that will carry a NASA standard sized payload. The current landing schedule for the Spacebit wheeled rover (Mission 2) is in Q4 2021 on board the Intuitive Machines Nova-C lander. Asagumo and the wheeled rover are optimized for assessment of in-situ lunar resources, intended to support lunar exploration under the Artemis Program.

During our Venture in Japan we took Asagumo to the Komokado Kazaana cave where it explored lava tubes which are similar to those on the Moon surface.

UK-based Spacebit has announced plans to create an early stage space-related accelerator in Luxembourg.

The UK is sending its first rover to the moon, and it is going to be tiny. SpaceBit, a UK-based space start-up, announced at New Scientist Live today a contract with the US space robotics company Astrobotic to send a rover aboard the Astrobotic lander that is headed to the moon in 2021.

Signed at the Farnborough International Air Show 2018 (FIA18), the partnership will see Goonhilly and Spacebit open the world's first space communications gateway, to introduce space communication services powered by blockchain and smart contracts.
